Falling into Place
September 23 @ 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm UTC
The way we tend endings directly impacts the quality of what remains.
Barbara Cecil and Sarah-Jane Menato will co-host four gatherings over the next year which, in the northern hemisphere, align with the end of each season:
• Saturday 23rd September 2023 ~ End of summer
• Thursday 21st December 2023 ~ End of autumn
• Wednesday March 20th 2024 ~ End of winter
• Thursday June 20th 2024 ~ End of spring
Each gathering takes place at: 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm UK time on the above dates. See your local time here: https://everytimezone.com/s/9d5e392d.
Participants with different understandings of the times we live in and our global predicament are invited and our diverse views and frames are all respected. *Please note that this is different from our usual Forum collapse-aware spaces.*
We gather online. To join us, you’ll need to follow this link to Eventbrite, https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/…/falling-into-place… make a contribution, and then register. Once you’ve registered, an email will be sent to your inbox with a Zoom link. You’ll also get a personal email from Sarah-Jane with some optional reading for context. You are asked to make a non-refundable contribution. £1 is as welcome as £100 in the reciprocal flow between us. If you’re unable to make a donation for any reason, please contact me and I’ll email you the Zoom link.
About these gatherings: Falling into Place is an invitation that’s evolved into a seasonal ritual and personal commitment to meaningful service in these times. Just as planting an acorn, knowing we will never sit under the shade of the Oak tree, is a gift to future generations, so too is restoring proper integrity to endings a contribution to the fertility inherent in what remains.
External demands to continually “rise to the occasion” have compromised vital inner territory and renewal on the back side of letting go. Repeatedly “rising to the occasion” (because culturally it’s honourable to do so), has an invisible cost. We are finding that a cyclical, seasonal experience of “falling into place” is a necessary and powerful counter balance to demands to “rise to the occasion”. The vocabulary of de-growth, letting go and rest isn’t mainstream in western culture and burn-out is now planetary.
There is a restorative power in supporting each other as we deepen capacity to be with endings, name our losses and honour them. Endings done well can become a portal into clear thinking, peace and a solid sense of next steps.
This simple on-line format enables informal community with soulful, courageous co-travellers. We’d love to have you join us in this quiet, radical activism.
